Halifax hosts maybe the nicest nightlife in Canada, in the summer months. But, part of the city looks like the dock scene in "the Usual Suspects." No way, Soze. Not the Halifax I know.

Points of interest:

• The waterfront, downtown Halifax, especially in the summer.

• The Citadel.

• Mackay Bridge.

• Dartmouth, near the ferry terminal.

• Canadian Navy and Coast Guard presence.

Be cafeful of:

• Brave, but drunk young people and students.

• Cold winters.
